Velocity-PrepStar All-Region TE, Rhett Ellison (Mountain View, CA, St. Francis) has backed off his earlier commitment to Virginia Tech, and has pledged his services to the USC Trojans. Ellison, the son of former SF 49er, and USC stand-out, Riki Ellison, made the decision after QB Samson Szakacsy opted out of his commitment to the Trojans, leaving a scholie available for the highy regarded Ellison.
Ellison committed to USC without taking an official visit to Los Angeles. However, having attended Trojan football camps since the eighth grade, the 6-foot-5 235-pound PrepStar All-Region tight end feels comfortable with the Trojan coaching staff. Ellison has been around USC his whole life, so this is a good fit for him.
Bigger than his dad, Rhett is one of California's top tight ends for 2007. Ellison caught 31 passes for 394 yards with two touchdowns and made 49 tackles, one interception, and two sacks as a senior.
