It's a done deal! Velocity-PrepStar #1 Ranked Athlete, Joe McKnight (River Ridge, LA, John Curtis), has signed his letter of intent, and he will be a USC Trojan as he kicks off his college career this fall. McKnight made the announcement during a ceremony at his high school earlier this morning.
McKnight, who measures in at 6'1", 193 pounds, had been heavily considering LSU and Ole Miss, but the Trojans won out on this PrepStar Dream team selection. Other schools who were hopeful of landing McKnight were Alabama, Florida State, Arkansas and Notre Dame.
Joe McKnight was named ESPN's top player in the country in mid-December. McKnight was a jack-of-all-trades for John Curtis High School as a senior. McKnight ran the ball 45 times for 709 yards with 14 touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 735 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. McKnight is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. He has that kind of explosive playmaking ability. McKnight was also had an impressive game in the US Army All-American Bowl last month, in San Antonio.
USC is now making a solid bid to move up to #2 in the overall recruiting rankings for 2007. The day is young, so we'll see what tonight brings.
