Junior college defensive back Sam Pope, from Southwest Mississippi Community College, in Sumjit, Mississippi, has accepted an offer to play for South Carolina. He picked the Gamecocks over Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.

Pope had prepped at Beaufort High School, in South Carolina, before moving to Summit and Southwest Mississipp Commulnity College.

Pope is 6-0, weighs 200 pounds and has been timed at 4.6 seconds in the forty-yard dash.

Pope is expected to play immediately next fall.
